For an East Midlands property portfolio, the challenge is often consistency: defining the same survey questions across several buildings while allowing for different construction, records and access arrangements. Interseal UK can discuss regional fire stopping, compartmentation and fire door programmes through our Nottingham office.

This is a service-area page, with enquiries coordinated from Basford. It does not indicate separate Interseal branches in each county. Send the locations you manage across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire or the wider East Midlands so that we can confirm the proposed scope, programme and availability.

Build one brief with a record for each property

A portfolio summary gives a useful overview, but each building needs its own reference and scope. A residential block, an office and an education building should not inherit identical assumptions simply because they sit within one procurement exercise.

Begin with a site schedule showing the address, use, occupancy and available documents for each building. Then identify the trigger for the work: fire risk assessment actions, previous defects, refurbishment, an asset review or gaps in the records. This helps distinguish confirmed work from areas where a survey is needed first.

Our fire compartment survey service and fire door surveys can be discussed as part of that initial scope. Keep any requirement for a wider fire risk assessment explicit; a specialist survey of selected doors or compartment lines does not answer every question about the building's fire safety.

Agree reporting before the first visit

Useful reports should allow your team to compare findings without losing their context. Agree building identifiers, door or location references, photograph naming and how inaccessible areas will be recorded before work begins.

If one property can only be inspected in communal areas and another permits agreed intrusive investigation, that difference must remain visible in the results. A blank section is not evidence that there are no defects. Our guide to understanding your survey report explains how to separate inspected items, limitations and outstanding actions.

For procurement, ask for survey work, remedial work, access arrangements and further investigations to be identified clearly. That allows you to compare proposals on the same basis and understand what may change when concealed conditions are established.

Sequence the regional programme around risk and access

Travel grouping can help organise visits, but it should not determine the urgency of a fire safety action. Set priorities with the people responsible for the buildings and their competent advisers, then agree practical delivery stages.

Across several occupied sites, record who manages keys, appointments, escorts and local inductions. Include planned shutdowns or refurbishment phases where these affect the work. A programme with named site contacts is easier to manage than a single start date covering every building.

Where findings lead to fire stopping or fire door maintenance, retain the original survey references through pricing and completion. This gives the property team a clearer view of what has been addressed and what remains open.

Regional experience and your next step

Interseal's historical project news includes Bosworth House in Leicester in 2010, with fire stopping around services and board encasement among the recorded works. It is an example from our archive, rather than a current project or evidence of conditions at the building today.

For a new East Midlands enquiry, send your site schedule, the intended outcome and the documents already available. Our quote preparation guide can help you assemble a useful brief. Call the Nottingham team on 0115 920 0018 or contact Interseal to discuss the programme.
